Her visit to the troops was inspired by one of the latest song covers by one of my favourite bands Postmodern Jukebox. Previously featured on Man of TIN / Pound Store Plastic Warriors:

This is its first German language cover, the 1980s Nena song 99Luftballons or ’99 Red Balloons’. This is covered in a 1940s / 50s jazz vibes style in German by singer Aly Ryan.
The 1980s original song was released in both German and English.

Wonderful little addition. I love that kind of rear area scene- adds a human element to it all.
Cheers,
Pete.

I like the scene but as for the new version of 99 Luftballoon, sorry to say but for me, its a pale shadow of Nena’s original both for the singing/playing and the sex appeal.

The original, as you say, may be the best. However sent back into the 1940s 50s by a time machine …

PMJ are a great fun band (not seen them live yet) with a very varied line up of vocalists.

One of my favourite pieces of music is Moonlight Sonarta and the best rendition I have ever heard is by Lola Astranova who is without doubt one of the greatest classical pianists in the world. Check it out on You Tube.

A lovely piece of music – I tracked down a snippet your favourite pianist on YouTube and also found on YouTube a man called Paul Barton in Thailand who plays music to retired elephants in a sanctuary https://youtu.be/_4AcjvsVn5k

Just watched that film, very impressive, the elephant was as enchanted as me, but I still prefer Lola on balance.
